The Open Reflective Action process involves six steps.
Step 1: Start: Where are we now?
Hello world! This is who we are. These are our resources and strengths. These are our needs and concerns.
Step 2: Goal: Where do we want to go?
This is our intention. This is how we want to change our world. These are the dreams and goals that inspire us, on which we will act this year.
Step 3: Path: How will we get there?
This is our strategy, and our action plan. Here also are the results of our background research.
Step 4: Compass: How will we stay on track?
This is what we will measure and report along to way, to inform ourselves and others about progress, and to help us make course corrections to reach our goal. This is our plan for documentation and self-evaluation.
Step 5: Journey: Action
This is us in action. Here are photos, movies, and other documentation “from the field” as we are underway. Check back often to follow our journey with us. We will also report here the things we committed to measure and report along the way, to keep us on track.
Step 6: Reflect: What have we learned, what can with share with the future?
These are our reflections on the journey. Our celebration of what we have done, our assessment of what we have learned. This is the concluding story we would like to share with others, and to take with us into the future, to help us grow stronger and wiser and more capable. Here also are reflections from mentors and friends who have advised us along the way. Here is how and why the future can be different from the past.
