Amounts of funding available, 2005:
-----------------------------------
A total of $1600 is available for small projects that will improve human and/or environmental quality of life through actions that are consistent with the six basic New Earth [principles](http://www.newearth.info/principles.html). Proposals are requested which have a dollar value of less than $400 each.
Due Date: June 17, 2005
----------------------
Proposals will summarize very briefly the following information:
1. Project Information:
· Which fund is most relevant to the proposed project: Development, Access, or Enterprise? (see ideas at bottom of this page)
· What actions will be taken by whom, as a result of the funding?
· What positive outcomes will these actions produce, in the short-term (within 1 or 2 years) and longer term? How will these impacts be measured or evaluated by the participants?
· Budget: specifically what will the funding be used for? Provide prices of goods or services to be purchased.
2. Applicant Information:
· Organization name, mailing address, telephone number, email address, website (if relevant).
· Name and contact information for the point of contact responsible for the proposed project.
· Organization registration number with the national or regional government. (Development and Access funding is available for projects by not-for-profit organizations; Enterprise loans are available for investments by any organization, including for-profit companies.)
· If the New Earth Fund does not fund this proposal, do you wish to be contacted by other potential sources of funding?
Proposal evaluation criteria
----------------------------
Preferred proposals will:
· Achieve lasting and beneficial impacts that appear important to the participants, and that relate to the broad objective of the fund topic area (Development, Access, or Enterprise)
· Use funds in an efficient manner.
The New Earth board of directors will summarize the reasons for its project selection decisions on the New Earth website prior to 1 August, 2005, and will send this summary of decisions by email to all applicants as well.
All proposals will be posted on the New Earth website, in keeping with the procedure of full transparency in New Earth. If the New Earth fund is not able to provide funding to a project during 2005, the display of the proposal on the New Earth website may attract funding from other donors independent of New Earth.
Which fund is most relevant to your project?
--------------------------------------------
Projects proposed for the topic area of **Development** should empower people to increase their ability to meet their basic physical, psychological or social needs, enabling them to thrive and increasing their capabilities to live lives that they value.
Projects proposed for the topic area of **Access** should empower people to participate more fully in creating and benefiting from global public goods. Such projects might provide physical infrastructure such as electrification, transportation, or access to information resource networks including the Internet. Or the projects might address personal and community capabilities such as literacy and communication skills.
For the topic area of **Enterprise** proposals should be for loans to small business enterprises that are improving local social and environmental quality of life where they operate. These loans are to be paid back in full to the New Earth fund, along with modest interest.
